Welcome to the Magic Bus '60s Button Museum
This is a collection of pictures of people as they looked in the ’60s. Their portraits have been magically psychedelisized and formatted into ’60s style hyper-colorful buttons. Many hippies wore buttons both as a statement of their beliefs and concerns, and as stylish ornamentation. It was not technically possible to create portrait buttons like this in the ’60s but now it can be done.
But why create these buttons?
Because the Magic Bus wants to show you the faces of the young people that saw the world from the perspective of the dawning of a new world. It was the ‘60s! It was the age of Aquarius! For people that didn’t live through the mid-sixties it is nearly impossible to explain what young people woke up to each day- it was as if the rising sun seemed to transform the existing world into a more perfect utopian dream.
If you have a selfie (scan) of yourself, your parents (whatever) taken during the ’60s send it to: donna@antenna-theater.org and we’ll make it into a button.
This is a real tin button in the classic style with wire hook clasp. 2 1/4 diameter. Solid construction. Handmade in California.
